Scrolling through my social media feed, I noticed the algorithm pushing “treat yourself” and “get ready with me” videos, quickly leading me to the “clean girl” trend. This trend emphasises a polished and supposed “effortless” lifestyle: glowing and dewy skin, shiny hair, natural makeup, simple yet fitted clothes in bright tones, and a rigidly repeated morning routine of journaling, skincare, yoga and eating healthy.

The sculpture reflects this obsessive repetition of routines by being separated into sections. Inside each section is an AI-generated image reflecting one part of the ‘clean girl’ routine. The exterior, made of plexiglas, encases these images. The resin, poured over the sculpture (which has not been done yet), slightly distorts the images. To see them more clearly, you might want to clean the surface, mimicking the cycle of perfection and obsession.
